I like that the book rhymes. I also liked that it involved God.

Locke & Key, Vol. 2: Head Games
by Joe Hill

I really enjoyed this volume! It is told in two parts: the past and present. I had a hard time keeping up with all of the characters from the past and how they are connected. Tyler, Bode, and Kinsey are more than just characters! This was a good time! I am excited to continue the series and see how all of the keys are incorporated. Let the fun continue! The only other thing that bothered me about this volume was the use of homophobic slurs sush as "fag".

Trigger Warning: Mention of sexual assault- This follows the story of Bea who is running away from home and ends up running into Lou and together they take a road trip through west Texas trying to return a cat that they found to their owner. one of the main themes in here is a sapphic friendship. Bea ends up falling apart and confiding in Lou about how her cousin sexually assaulted her multiple times and felt guilty for not getting help so she ran away from home. Lou reassures her that she did nothing wrong and didn't deserve to have that happen to her. I enjoy Tillie Walden's work. Sometimes graphic novels are a miss for me because the story may be good but i don't feeling much of anything. This graphic novel on the other hand made my heart ache but also made me smile. There were some funny dialogue exchanged between the characters and all I could do is lough out loud. I am going to continue reading Tillie Walden's published works.
